It's no secret that travel size = handbag size. Between shows at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York, I nipped into one of the city's ubiquitous Duane Reade locations to see what kind of space-saving NYFW supplies might await in store.

The answer? Plenty of the helpful products you might expect, plus a few wildcards.

The obvious must-buys: tiny canisters of John Frieda hairspray and mousse for a quick hair fix on the go, single-serve nail lacquer removal pads (brilliant), and multiple mini varieties of hand sanitizer (fashion flu is real this year, guys!).

If they had hand-warmers, I would have bought a dozen. Instead, I swung by the sock aisle (because Laird the junkie from Girls isn’t the only Duane Reade sock shopper) to pick up yet another pair of thin Kushyfoot socks. On warmer days, I’d say they’re great because they instantly winterize any summer sandal. Today, they’re a crucial second layer of warmth.

And then I saw this, which I hope I never, ever to have reason to regret leaving right there on the shelf... Shudder...
