Love Lily’s Gothic red nails as much as we do? Well you’re in luck; we’ve got the step-by-step tips straight from her Manicurist Michelle Humphrey.

They may look tricky but follow these foolproof tips that make recreating the look simple...

-File to desired shape and buff nails, this will make the base coat last longer when the nail is oil-free.

- Apply your base coat. Michelle loves Essie First Base, £10.50, as it dries quickly and primes your nails meaning no chipping and longer wear.

- Apply one coat of Maybelline New York Express Finish Nail Polish in Cherry, £3.49.

– To create the ombré effect paint two thirds of the nail using Maybelline New York Forever Strong Professional Nail Varnish in Deep Red, £4.09.

- Whilst this polish is still wet, use cotton bud to gently dab across the line; this breaks up the line between the colours.

- Paint the bottom third of the nail using Maybelline New York Forever Strong Professional Nail Varnish in Midnight Red, £4.09.

– Lastly, paint a very thin line of Maybelline New York Color Show Nail polish in Onyx Rush (coming soon) on the tips. ELLE loves Nails inc. Nail Polish in Black Taxi, £11, as an alternative.

- Finish with Essie Good To Go topcoat, £10.95.
