It may have been an abandoned sports arena in Paris but backstage at Haider Ackermann this morning we met graceful warriors - seductive glamazonians who had the elusive air of birds of paradise about them.

The bad news is that according to make-up artist, Stephane Marais, this was an "unattainable, handsome beauty".

The good news? We'll be dammed if we're going to skip trying this electro-purple lip at home.

As MAC's new Silver Dusk Irridescent Powder danced over eye lids, Marais used the new SS13 brow pencils to create a straight, elongated shape that looked like a "feather had been caught in the wind".

Then for the triple-layered lip. Shaping a pointy Cupid's Bow with the Chromagraphic Pencil in Rich Purple, he added Burgundy Lip Mix before rubbing Violet Pigment over the top, ("it's like a copper pot - the more you polish it, the shinier it gets").

Meanwhile, Eugene Soulieman used his years spent perfecting the art of Geisha and Samurai hair in Japan to create a technically tricky "sumo style". In a nutshell, Wella Texture Touch wax was "squashed" into roots then heated to a pliable putty. A pony, two folded buns and a dousing of the Shimmer Delight Spray later and we had sumos that came with an added glisten.

Hands up - this hair is a little beyond us. But between birds of paradise and polished copper pans, that lip has just gone straight to the top of our SS13 "must do" list.
