The big one. Behind the Niagra falls-esque eco set, there was a team working to get the 90 models (90!) ready to walk the runway, and we at home and watching in the seats getting ready to find the next big beauty ideas.

We always know the power duo behind the traditionally wonderful Chanel beauty looks will deliver the goods. Hairstylist Sam McKnight and make-up artist Tom Pecheux gave SS18 their usual magic touch, and as a result we have a significant list of new ideas to apply to our own hair and make-up routines. Thank you team Chanel beauty.

Here goes:

1. Elongate your ponytail

There's something a little bit dressage about this look, but the beauty is in the simplicity. Yes, this needs a decent amount of hair, but if you're working with a shorter length, just shorten the Perspex accessory. Which brings us onto the next idea...

2. Make your own accessory

Sam McKnight created transparent plastic accessories to mirror the Chanel ss18 collection, which featured a lot of clear vinyl and, well, waterproofing. You can get sheets of bendable Perspex at art shops everywhere. Then you can control the length of the Perspex-pony-holder (we're coining it) too.

3. Apply primary colour

Or colours, plural, as Tom clashed bold royal blue eyes with fluorescent red lips. Either, or, all together, it's quite a look, but we're into it.

4. Make-up up to your eyebrows

The vibrant hit of blue shadow had something of the Cleopatra about it, with Tom taking the colour right up and into the brows. The Grand Palais, where the show was held is massive, there were hundreds of guests, but every single one could grasp the bold blue concept from afar.

5. Be brave/break rules

You know that one? Lips OR eyes. eyes OR cheeks. Why though? Why not do a killer power pout combined with a killer Cleopatra eye combined with a killer cheek flush? There is no room for wallflowers in the Chanel book of aesthetics.

6. Embrace your messiness

The nice thing about Sams PerspexPonies™ were the ends. And the roots. In sharp contrast to the simple graphic plane in the centre, roots were ruffled and front sections pulled out, and the ends had wavy natural texture. Imperfect perfection

7. Wing to your temple

If you're not going to go full Cleopatra, at least extend your bright blue smoke right out to your hairline. Trust us. The elongated shape is super flattering, the blue isn't heavy, so you can go further with it. You're wearing colour now (according to ss18), the colour is there to be seen, so show it! Properly!
