You know you're a good few days into the season when the bonkers references start to roll off the tongues of make up artists and stylists. And the show certainly didn't disappoint on that front.

Working her magic for NARS, Diane Kendel told us of the birds, butterflies and cages inspiring the main collection. Switching it up, she referenced 1920s flappers and star of the forthcoming Great Gatsby film, Carey Mulligan to inspire a look that was indisputably "all about the brow". Maxing out the '20s vibe, she created a super-slim, elongated brow that she extended at both the inner and outer eye corners using pencils a shade darker than the girls' own hair colour.

Complementing the high, high arch of the brow was a flick of white eye pencil along the waterline and a smidgen of NARS' new cream blush in pale red Seduction (available from February 2013).

Beside the exposed brick wall of the downtown backstage area, Odile Gilbert took up the flapper mantle by slicking Kerastase Elixir Ultime from root to tip then using horizontal rows of bobby pins to create a small, Marcel-like wet look wave. After all, summer wouldn't be summer without a wet look or two now would it?
