Last night I headed to the new look Bleach London at the opening of The Beauty Rooms in Topshop, Oxford Circus. Since I'm trying to grow my hair I didn't want anyone to go at my already delicate ends with peroxide, so I agreed to a little hair chalking.
The stylist used a Kevin Murphy Color.Bug in orange, £12.95, and simply rubbed it onto my dry ends and expertly smudged it in to give a colourful ombre effect before setting with hairspray. I was surprised how well the colour showed up on my dark hair.
It's a super low-maintenance look - this morning I only have a whisper of colour left on the ends so it's perfect for a night out. Be warned though, there was some colour transfer so this hairstyle should not be paired with a white dress - unless you do a Jessica Hart and wear your coloured ends in a dolly bun...
If you want to try the look at home you can use the Colour.Bug or Sennelier Pastels, £34 for 40 pastels (Jackson's Art Supplies), there will be more colour choice if you go down the chalk route.
Top tip: use the chalks on dry hair. If you want a longer lasting look wet your hair first as this will stain your ends.
