At the Golden Globes in Los Angeles last night, two big make-up trends stood out smoky eyes and statement lips.
Homeland star Claire Danes make-up artist Matin Maulawizada, Global Artistry Director for Laura Mercier created a sexy, fun look for the actress. I decided to go with a smoky eye and not a red lip since the dress was so red said Maulawizada of the Versace gown.
Maulawizada used Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Liner in Black to create depth and shape before applying Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Black Ebony to deepen the lash line. He then used Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Black Gold to intensify the depth and to create a contrast with Claires blue eyes. He finished the look with plenty of black mascara.
Jennifer Lopezs smoky eye was created by make-up artist Mary Phillips using several colours from the LOreal Paris Colour Riche Eye Shadow Quads. A soft grey was washed over the eye and a hint of black shadow on the outer corners. That pretty nude lipstick is LOreal Paris Colour Caresse Shine Satin in Eternally Nude.
Make-up artist Jillian Dempsey created Jennifer Lawrences simple, yet sultry make-up look. She layered up a warm blend of gold and coffee colours before lining the eyes with Chanel Automatic Liquid eyeliner in Black and multiple coats of LOreal Paris Telescopic Shocking Extensions Mascara in Blackest Black.
Jessica Alba won the accolade for best make-up look of the night (well, according to team ELLE). Make-up artist Lauren Anderson took Albas peach Oscar de la Renta gown as inspiration for the pop of matte lipstick. I loved the contrast between her glowing skin and the matte orange lip. Its an almost tropical pop of colour thats not an exact match for the dress but close. Anderson used Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick in Riviera, a bright velvety, tangerine shade. We love!
Another Jessica and another statement lip, this time Jessica Chastain whose make-up artist Kristofer Buckle was inspired by watercolor as opposed to painting. However Jessica wanted a bold lip to off-set the pastel hue of her gown. The deep berry pop of colour was LOréal Paris Colour Caresse Shine Stain in Berry Persistent.
