Comme des Garcons has launched Amazingreen blended by Jean-Christophe Herault. Now we know you probably wont want to share (its just that good smelling) but it had both the women and few men in ELLE towers hooked from the first whiff.
This is an exciting launch since Herault really tried to push the boundaries in the green fragrance family; he wanted to move away from the typical citrusy-fresh green scents.
It was important for me to express the strength of nature, in particular the jungle. I didnt want this to be a twee interpretation of green. I wanted this to be the apogee of green, he said.
This green scent is a blend of vegetal and mineral ingredients - jungle leaves and dew mist mingle with a recreation of the scent of silex (the latin word for ground flint stone). While gunpowder adds a rebellious and illicit presence and vetiver brings refinement and elegance, says Herault.
Sunil Makan, Picture Assistant says, the gunpowder, green pepper and ivy leaf compliment each other, creating a smoky yet fresh scent the freshest of the CdG family - which I would wear all year round. It's subtle enough not to be in your face, but haunting enough not to go unnoticed.'
On my skin, I don't know whether it's because I'm a girl, but it smells softer and even more subtle. It's fresh because it has so many green notes, but it has an addictive warmth and depth. I'm hooked too.
Knowing how much we love Amazingreen I can't wait for Balenciaga's much-anticipated Florabotanica, also by Jean-Christophe Herault (with Olivier Polge) it launches September. The fact its also the only perfume Kristen Stewart has ever worn (shes the face) makes it all the more intriguing.
