ELLE caught up exclusively with Cheryl Cole backstage in Birmingham on the seventh night of her solo A Million Lights tour. After a week of revelations from her autobiography Cheryl, My Story, being serialised in The Sun, Cheryl was quietly preparing for her performance admitting that being without the other girls has been 'bittersweet'. We caught up with the star during her pre-show prep and she confessed that ‘I get quite nervous, so I’ll stop and have a cup of tea’.

Since ELLE watched her tour at the O2 last Sunday she has revealed on Alan Carr Chatty Man that she chased her new boyfriend, and backing dancer, Tre Holloway, who we spied backstage nursing an injured knee. ‘I actually met him two years ago. It was me, it was all me. I had to do a little bit of chasing. I cast a spell. Handsome, isn’t he?’ she told Carr on the show.

We met with Cole in the L’Oreal Styling Lounge an hour before the show, with Tinie Tempah going on stage just moments later and a queue of her ‘soldiers’ waiting for a meet and greet outside her dressing room.

Cole was already groomed and ready to go on stage in her first hair and make-up look of the night - neat cornrows on either side of her head with tumbling glossy curls helped along by L'Oreal's new Elnett Heat Styling Spray, £5.99 for added volume, of course, and a golden smoky eye that we couldn’t take our eyes off. And it seems we’re not the only ones who are a little envious of the Girls Aloud star’s looks. Cole reveals in her autobiography, Cheryl: My Story, that the Duchess of Cambridge dressed like her on her hen night. ‘Kate confessed that she dressed up as me on her hen night, in a bodysuit and split trousers, and sang Fight For This Love,’ Cole writes in her new book. ‘She even learnt the dance routine and was step-perfect by all accounts, as her sister Pippa and brother James also came over and told me all about it.’

In our exclusive video Cole talks about her recent 'bittersweet' experience. How she likes to be impulsive with her hair 'I could sit in my hairdresser's chair and say 'do you know what, cut it off' I'm like that and then we'll call L'Oreal and say 'we have new hair!'. Just how she managed to get those ripped abs, 'I've been working out for a long time with Tracey Anderson and we don't do crunches', as well as revealing the music she likes to listen to when touring (and no, it isn’t her own).
