Subtly smoky eyes, contoured cheekbones and pretty nude lip colour – want to know how to recreate Jessie J’s make-up look on this month’s ELLE cover?

A good job, then, that we called on make-up artist Andrew Gallimore, who created the look, to explain how you can do just that.

‘Jessie's ELLE cover look is a really natural, delicate nude look made up of all neutral tones. Subtle, varying textures work with the light to really magnify Jessie's natural beauty,’ Gallimore told us.

Read on for his step-by-step.

To get Jessie's look I started by moisturising Jessie's skin with Hydra Life Re-hydrating Mask, £30.50 then nourished her lips with Crème de Rose lip balm, £19.50.

On Jessie's eyes I created a base using the mid-tone shade of the 3 Couleurs Glow Eye Palette in Nude Glow, £34, all over the eyelid. I then subtly shaded around the socket line with the brown shade from 3 Couleurs Smoky Nude, also £34. I added extra definition to Jessie's top lash line with a smudge of Intense Brown Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil, £17, followed by a very delicate highlight from the inner corner toward the centre of the eyelid (this mimics where light hits) using the gold shade from the 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in Fairy Gold.

I curled Jessie's lashes and added one coat of New Look Mascara in Black, £23, to the top lashes and an extra 'stroke' at the roots of the bottom lashes to give definition without using eyeliner. I defined the arch of Jessie's brows by filling them slightly with Powder Eyebrow Pencil in Sand, £17.

For Jessie's flawless skin I used Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Fluid Foundation in shade 20, £31, buffed lightly onto her face in circular motions from the centre t-zone outwards so as not to mask the skin. A little Diorskin Sculpt Smoothing Lifting Concealer in 01, £20.50, brightened under Jessie's eyes.

To get subtle illumination on the tops of Jessie's cheekbones I used a highlighter, then for colour and contour I used powder Diorblush in Sunkissed Cinnamon, £29. For this I used a big tapered brush to lightly sweep the blush over the cheeks, but used the pointed end to tease a little extra product under the cheekbone for a slight sculpting effect. For a finishing touch to her complexion I enhanced Jessie's beauty mark with Long-Wear Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil, £17, for a smudge-proof finish.

I lined Jessie's lips very lightly with Contour Lipliner Pencil in Linen, £17.50, and filled them with Rouge Dior Nude Lipstick in Trench, £25. I added a touch of light to Jessie's Cupid’s bow with the Diorskin Nude Illuminating Powder, £32. This defined and perfected her pout without having to draw a hard lip line.

Finally I lightly powdered Jessie's t-zone with Loose Powder in 02, £31.50, to lose any unwanted shine.
