Has the London Marathon inspired you to start running? If it has then you should get yourself a great pair of trainers. Aside from beauty, not a lot inspires me more than a great pair of shoes. In this case Nike Free Run iD Running Shoes, £95, that I customised myself at the new Nike store at Boxpark, East London.

I chose everything from the thickness of the sole and the level of support right down to the colour and fabric. I went with grey and neon pink, so I have something that will go with the rest of my gym kit (consisting of mostly grey and black pieces), while the flash of pink is just for fun. They are called ‘Free Run’ because they are so lightweight it not only makes them great running shoes, they also work well in the gym and for all types of classes - some of the really hefty, padded trainers can be quite restrictive when you're doing anything other than running in a straight line.

I had to wait a little over three weeks until my new trainers were due, but I was given a mini shoe box complete with picture of my creation. Kind of like when you're pregnant and you get a scan to look at...
