I don't know about you, but no matter how much I try to work that effortless, just-got-out-of-bed look with my hair, I end up failing and just looking like I really haven't made any effort at all. Glancing back at the NY shows then, it struck me that Proenza Schouler really do this kind of nonchalant, cool-girl look so well, and this AW12 season was no exception. Thanks to hair stylist Paul Hanlon and his arsenal of fabulous Frederic Fekkai products, each model looked just pitch perfect with naturally tousled, full bodied locks. So eager was I for a taste of this myself, I quizzed Paul there and then for his step by step instructions...

- Wash your hair and allow to airy dry naturally. While it's still damp, apply a small amount of Frederic Fekkai Coiff Oceanique Tousled Wave Spray, £17 through roots to tips and massage in. Blast with heat or finish drying naturally.

- Once dry work a small blob of Frederic Fekkai Coiff Magnifique Ultra-Light Finishing Creme through mid lengths to ends, for a little shine and hold.

- Finish by massaging your hair with your hands to break up the shape a little.
