Remember those sticky strips, like plasters, that you used as a teenage to clear your blocked pores? Well Bioré, the brand behind those additive strips, has grown up and relaunched with a concise line of cleansers.

According to recent research conducted by the brand, women in the UK spend less than one minute on their cleansing routine, and only 21% of women consider cleansing as an ‘extremely important’ part of their skincare regime. I spoke with facialist Nichola Joss at the launch and she explained exactly why thoroughly cleansing your skin is so imperative if you want great skin. ‘If you cleanse properly you're more likely to have plump, bouncy, luminous skin for longer. Make sure you cleanse and rinse your face and décolleté thoroughly - your serum and moisturiser will work more effectively on skin that's not blocked by remnants of dirt, make-up and cleanser’ she told me.
The new look line includes three cleansers, face wipes, a scrub and, of course, those pore strips. In Japan, (Bioré's birthplace), - cleansing takes centre stage (so much so that Bioré is the second biggest selling skincare brand in Asia). In fact, double cleansing is popular as well as targeted application - cleansing and moisturising different zones of the face with different products. With Biore you could, for example, use one of the Makeup Removing Towelettes, £3.99, then double cleanse with the hero product Skin Balancing Cleanser, £4.99, all over and the Anti-Blackhead Cleanser, £4.99 (which heats up on contact with damp skin) just in areas that need extra help. All the cleansers are non-comodegenic (which means they won’t make your acne or spots worse) and some of the products contain salicylic acid and Tea Tree oil to help clear and prevent breakouts. Problem skin is not just an issue for teenagers these days, and the affordable price tags are a welcome bonus too.
Bioré is available at Boots.
