Days 3-5 of juices arrived and to my surprise a couple of the juices had changed. In place of Vitality and Nutrilicious was Celebrity Secret and Greens. Celebrity Secret is lemon juice and cayenne pepper which yesterday I thought was vile, but I came around to today. Greens is just as you would expect, packed with nutrient-rich green vegetables… and cucumber. I hate cucumber, so it’s a struggle to sniff the juice, let alone drink it. On the plus side, I don’t feel hungry; I can talk about food and even sit next to people eating without wanting to cry and I’ve already lost 5.5Ibs and I still have a day and a half to go. So far so good.

If you want to sign-up to the 5-day Soulmate Food plan as well, the team are offering you a 50% discount, so a five-day supply will cost you £100 instead of £200. All you have to do is visit and use the voucher code "ELLE50" at the checkout. They deliver to mainland UK, plus Northern Ireland, so no excuses.

It turns out I hate celery. This dawned on me a few sips into my third Green Juice of the week, the most medicinal-feeling moment of my daily detox routine. The mean green bottle contains a blend of cucumber, broccoli, apple, celery, courgette, lime and spinach. It tastes so healthy, I can almost convince myself that the juice is cancelling out weeks’ worth of impulse cupcakes from last year.
Day Two saw me tapering down the solid foods in preparation for Day Three, the juice fast. As a detox newbie, Day Three gave me the fear. But as Amy described, the all-juice day is surprisingly filling... not that I wasn’t relieved to make it to the end without cracking.
Sticking with any detox must be a matter of perspective. I keep reminding myself that it’s a real luxury to have someone preparing and delivering a gourmet vegan menu every day, and that this week is like boot camp for my previously feeble sense of willpower. I’m also looking forward to seeing how it’ll all turn out—I decided to wait to weigh myself until Friday afternoon, so I can see the full effect of my discipline reflected on the scales.
Plus, my tummy is visibly flatter. If that’s not motivation and reward, I don’t know what is.
