I love a candle. In fact, I love quite a few which is why my home is dotted with them. Glass jars filled with gloriously fragranced wax from Jo Malone and Diptyque line the windowsills and shelves, and once empty I use them as lovely posh-looking make-up brush or pen pots. My collection, however, is set to get even bigger with the launch of two new candle emporiums in London.
Cire Trudon (Marie Antoinette's candle maker of choice) has set up shop on Chiltern Street. The brightly coloured 'Madeleine' Candles, £1.50 each (with 20 bold colours to choose from), are worth the visit alone, but you'll find the full collection a joy to peruse. 020 7486 7590 / ciretrudon.com
A stones throw away in Chelsea, Peter Jones on Sloane Square has set up a new department entirely dedicated to candles (excited squeal!). There are 20 brands to choose from, as well as an array of accessories - candle holders, diffusers and room scents - with prices ranging from £1 to £80. New brands include Archipelago and Irish brand Max Benjamin, so there's something different to discover too. johnlewis.com
If you're not near London, Diptyque has today launched an e-commerce website so you can shop for candles, fragrance and, er, soap on a rope from the comfort of your living room; bliss. diptyqueparis.co.uk
