Here at BND we've coined a trend for next season 'Arts and Crafts'. In just one day yesterday, at three shows, there were additions to the beauty looks you're more likely to find at a stationers than Boots. Basically, between now and March you need to get your thinking caps on for ingenious art-inspired ideas; brush up on your skills and maybe take a trip (or two) to Hobby Craft.

Make-up Artist Sam Bryant created a strong graphic look at Richard Nicoll by using cut-outs of black bandage applied to the outer corners of the eye.

At Holly Fulton Jenny Longworth applied crushed shell to the ring finger of models' nails to match the underwater theme of the collection. Bactstage at Matthew Williamson, Butter London founder Nonie Creme told us she predicted nails next season will have much more of a 'homemade feel'.

Topshop Unique saw the most adventurous take on the trend. Paul Hanlon transformed hair with lashings of Bb Gel and a heck of a lot of gold leaf for a modern take on Cleopatra. Definitely not the most practical look, but boy did it look amazing. Jenny Longworth used silver leaf on nails at Felder Felder. I wonder where we'll see it next?
