The Mile High Manicure Club

Last Thursday I spent the evening in an airplane having a manicure, as you do. Well, in truth it was a nail bar housed in the shell of an old 1988 Boeing, constructed inside a shop to give the feel of being on a flight. The attention to detail is quite astonishing, down to the real airplane lavatory door and a treatment list that looks like a departures board.

MWNails is a brand new nail bar concept that takes you back to a golden age of travel when people sipped Martinis at 30,000ft. Just as you would at an airport, you check in and wait to board (or in this case, wait to have your treatment), while your bags are placed in the overhead lockers. Treatments range from a Shanghai Shape (and paint), £9, up to the indulgent Mile High, £101, a 101 minute manicure that is super indulgent. The salon offers pedicures (in first class airplane seats), Minx, Artistic Gloss manicures (that last three weeks) and acrylics. It also has a license to serve alcohol, mini bottles of gin and tonic or Prosecco are just some of the beverages on offer 'in-flight'.

This nail bar is the perfect place for a fast mani using either OPI or Essie (the girls have been timed to get the manicures perfected in the shortest space of time if you're in a rush) or for a hen do/birthday (you can hire the whole place out and the team will order in food and drink, plus you'll have control of the stereo - very important).
