The BB phenomenon comes to the UK

Beauty Balms have been big news in Asia for a while now. Otherwise known as BB creams, these wonder products are making their way to British shores. But what's so great about them? Well, the balm is a hardworking multi-tasker. It's a tinted moisturiser, often containing SPF, with anti-ageing and healing ingredients. Interestingly, our Creative Director Jae Lee told me that in Korea, where she is from, freckles are not at all fashionable, so the balms are sold as having ‘whitening’ benefits that reduce pigmentation, as well as offering sheer coverage.

There are plenty of different BB creams that offer a variety of skincare benefits, but in this country it's early days. Inspired by the Asian phenomenon Garnier has created Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-in-One B.B. Cream, £9.99, for western skintones available at and now; it promises to hydrate skin, blur imperfections and smoothe fine lines. While Estee Lauder and MAC offer BB creams Duty Free at airports but not in the UK stores, surely it's only a matter of time...
