A trip to a Phoenix Boot Camp is a sure-fire way to lose pounds and inches fast, but it also sets you up to continue your success at home.

It has the punishing exercise (sorry, no getting out of it), but also includes – and these are key - healthy meals (you can have 1400 calories per day), so you learn about portion control and eating for fuel; as well as life coaching classes in the form of Changing Limiting Beliefs (CLB) – to encourage you to think more positively and be more motivated.

On arrival I was weighed and measured (a great motivator). To fit everything into less than three days meant early starts (5.30am to be precise), and packed timetables of hardcore army-inspired workouts and CLB talks. We even found time to head off camp for a 4.5 mile row along a local river.

The food was really tasty – granola or scrambled egg for breakfast, soup or risotto for lunch, and dinners of chicken with feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes and rice, for example. Far better than the bland salads and juices I was expecting.

Over a weekend you can lose up to 6Ibs and double that in inches (I lost 7.5 inches all over). On a week camp, you can expect to lose almost a stone!

Once home, I was sent diet plans for weight loss and weight management, recipes and exercise tips. Susie has an impressive 100% record of attendees keeping the weight off, with many going on to lose even more at home.
