While the Andy Warhol collection is set to be the largest collaboration for the brand to date, it's not the first. Francois Nars has worked backstage at the Marc Jacobs and Thakoon shows for years creating make-up looks that complement their catwalks collections, so it's no surprise he looked to the designers to collaborate on other projects.

Last year Nars worked with Marc Jacobs on a gift with purchase over the Mother's Day weekend at Saks offering shoppers a free lip palette with every purchase of the Paradise Vera bags. And this spring, it is launching a small line of six nail polishes created by designer Thakoon Panichgul and inspired by the vibrant colours found in Indian spice markets.

Nars created the Warhol collection under a license with The Andy Warhol Foundations. The collection is 'intended to evoke the cool, image-rich, character-laden world of Warhol in a limited edition collection said to showcase innovative packaging, formulas and shades,' WWD reported.

With brands like MAC and Rimmel turning out impressive collaborations with stars like Kate Moss, Nikki Minaj and Daphne Guinness, do you think this is the right direction for Nars?
