Backstage in Milan at the Emilio Pucci SS14 show hairstylist Luigi Murenu described the hair as 'tough and sexy' - it's a simple side part. In fact, Murenu explained how the act of sweeping your hair to one side of your head is very sexy.

Sat at my desk I turned to Beauty Director Sophie and said, 'I'm going to Trial a Trend,' in one motion I swept my hair to one side and said, 'done!'. She laughed, until she realised I was serious. It's really that easy. If you don't have the natural dry, beachy texture blast the hair with Bumble and bumble City Swept Finish, £21.50, that gives hair that lived-in texture with one or two mists of a can. Need a little wave in your surfer girl-inspired hair? Tong random pieces of hair before spraying.

Also, don't get too precise with your parting position, simply rake your fingers through the hair and let it find its own way.

I am a centre parting devotee but have kept the side parting in for two days and had quite a few compliments. It's perfect for spring and lazy summer days when they eventually arrive but in the meantime I may just go back to my centre parting.
