Vichy's new face cream, Liftactiv Derm Source, is being touted as the next anti-ageing wonder product and it’s less than £30! The formula promises to trick your cells into producing higher levels of collagen (collagen is the building blocks for skin – and what keeps it plump and youthful-looking).

The key ingredient in Vichy's youth-promoting formula is Rhamnose, a plant sugar from the Uncaria, a Brazilian plant.

Julie McManus, head of scientific and technical-regulatory affairs at L'Oreal / Vichy said, ‘Other collagen stimulating creams work in a relatively untargeted manner. We’ve shown that we’re having an effect exactly where we want it.’

But how? Well, fibroblasts in the papillary dermis (a layer between the epidermis and dermis, known now as the 'derm source') are responsible for collagen and elastin synthesis that keeps the skin looking young. Lectin, receptors found on the fibroblast cells, recognise the Rhamnose, that revs up collagen production, and adheres to it like a magnet, promoting the necessary exchanges between the skin's layers to keep it youthful for longer.

This product is ten years in the making and has caused quite a stir with beauty editors, while the research has been published in a number of scientific journals.

Vichy Liftactiv Derm Source, day cream £27 / night cream, £28, launches nationwide on April 18, but you can bag yourself a jar now at escentual.com for just £22.90 (and £23.75 for the night cream). So, what are you waiting for?
