Kate Bosworth and Liv Tyler stepped out yesterday with hair so similar, I think I spy a mini trend.

Liv Tyler attended the GO International Designer Collective Launch in New York with a Jerry Hall-esque hairstyle – a severe side parting and tumbling tresses. On the slicked-back side, she added detail with a scalp braid that gave her a more rock edge (helped along by her leather biker jacket) which suited her East Coast aesthetic perfectly.

Over on the West Coast, Kate Bosworth hosted Nylon Magazine's March Issue Celebration (she's on the cover) in Los Angeles; the shape of her hairstyle was the same, but there were small differences that made her look more Californian casual. The parting was less severe and in place of tumbling, glossy curls, was a lived-in boho-esque wave - as if she'd come straight from a day hanging at Venice beach. Her plait was so loose it was almost a twist and much less deliberate than Liv's.

I'm leaning towards Kate's low-key look, but which do you prefer?
