Harrods Urban Retreat is once again opening it's treatment room doors for a pop-up spa, this time to the world renowned Forte Village, in Sardinia (the department store has also welcomed pop-ups from Erb Spa, Thailand and Village Pangkor Laut, Malaysia, among others) .

The Forte Village spa prides itself on using local ingredients such as sea salt, honey and plant extracts from the island. Faced with the choice of trialling a massage, facial or body scrub I chose the Honey & Salt scrub. Sadly the skin on my body is poorly neglected and dry, so it was a welcome treat.

First I was thoroughly scrubbed down with sea salt; it was pretty abrasive but much needed (she did give me the option of a lighter pressure but I was feeling brave). Then honey was applied over the top and massaged into my skin. The salt helps to drain retained water and slough away dead skin cells, while the honey nourishes the skin. Antibacterial properties in the honey make this ideal for anyone with acne or blemishes on their back and chest too. Once I'd showered a body lotion with a menthol aroma was applied in long, sweeping strokes - my skin felt invigorated and super soft while my circulation felt like it had been knocked into gear.

This a great chance to sample treatments that are usually only available at the legendary Sardinian Spa; they are sending over their top therapists to work in Harrods for the month.

The Forte Village Spa Festival, from 28th February- 27th March. Honey & Salt Terme Del Mare, £90 for 50 minutes at Harrods Urban Retreat.
