The skincare industry is unique in that it is the world’s largest employer of women entrepreneurs - over 96% of skin therapists globally are women. With this in mind it makes sense for the skincare industry to provide global support for women looking to make their own way in business. The founder of Dermalogica (the world’s number one professional skincare brand), Jane Wurwand has teamed up with FITE (Financial Independence Through Entrepreneurship) who are in partnership with Kiva, a non-profit organisation that delivers microloans to budding entrepreneurs around the world. Statistically, women have been found to have a more difficult time obtaining financial support and more than 70% of people living below the poverty line are women. With a micro loan a woman entrepreneur is able invest in her own business, and once repayments begin, the money can then be re-loaned to another entrepreneur. Dermalogica and FITE through Kiva will bring microloans to women in particular, to help them start or expand their own businesses. ? ?

From January, five of Dermalogica’s best selling products – Daily Microfoliant (an EBT favourite), PreCleanse, Skin Hydrating Booster, Total Eye Care and Intensive Eye Repair – will include a FITE code on the packaging that carries a potential $1 donation (by Dermalogica) towards the funding of a micro-loan. Simply enter the code (printed on the inside sleeve) in to the FITE site and select where you would like the donation to be made. You could be helping a woman in the Philippines buy fertilizer for her rice crops or a group of women in Mexico buy feed for their herd of dairy animals. It takes a mere 10 seconds but could contribute towards something life changing for another woman. ?
