Wearing art is a concept ELLE girls will be familiar with. There’s certainly no doubt in my mind that even the simplest Jil Sander trouser is a work of true artistic merit. But how about when it comes to beauty? While some products are strictly bought for efficacy, others may be judged upon their packaging (one ELLE team member will only allow black, white or grey products into his bathroom). But visual artist Andrea Maack is hoping to create mini exhibitions in bathrooms worldwide as well as getting women wearing her art. The medium? Fragrance. She has collaborated with a French perfume house on three scents: Smart, Craft and Sharp, briefing them with a different one of her intricate line drawings for each fragrance. Even if you can’t ‘smell’ the clean lines and icy shades of her pencil drawings in the scents, the fragrances are stunning: my favourite’s Sharp, a dusty sweet musk that I would wear everyday in springtime.
