This morning I stopped in at Selfridges to visit Shiseido's new interactive mirror from Japan. Unlike ordinary looking glasses, this one takes all the guess work out of finding your perfect eyeshadow, blusher and lipstick with the help of a computer. The mirror takes a photo of your face and then maps out where your features are; once the mapping process is complete the photo reverts to your reflection. To try out different products you simply look in the mirror as you normally would while the assistant 'applies' virtual make-up to your face via a touch screen.

For the indecisive or make-up shy it means you can flirt with different styles before pin-pointing the look you want. But, what makes this process so impressive is that the virtual placement of the lipstick, eyeshadow and blusher was scarily spot-on with my features, so the final look I chose in the virtual mirror looked just-so applied in real life.

The mirror is at the Shiseido counter in Selfridges, London.
