Nail art: all in the name of research

By Amy Lawrenson

This week I headed to nailgirls in Islington. It is a small yet perfectly formed nail bar with three pedicure stations, three manicure tables and an outdoor space where you can have your nails painted - weather permitting.

I was heading there for top secret ELLEuk.com research and while I was given one of the brand's signature manicures, I chatted to the lovely Lynda-Louise. She and her sister Joanna are the co-founder of nailgirls but her background is in fashion - she has interned for Marc Jacobs and styled countless fashion shoots over in the states.

My manicure included shape, oil soak, cuticle tidy, scrub (home-made) , massage and hot towel treatment followed by one of the neatest paint jobs I have experienced. I was then given some nail art; one nail on each hand was adorned with flowers and gems to create an embellished effect.

I’d highly recommend a visit to the nail bar if you're in the area. If not, you can buy nailgirls polishes, £10 each on the website.
