I ventured to the Diptyque launch this morning to discover the story behind their new fragrance Eau Duelle which launches in September and what greeted me was a veritable apothecary – a table strewn with all manner of exciting and exotic ingredients that have been used to create this complex and delicious scent. The main notes are vanilla and frankincense which makes for a rich, dusky fragrance but it’s also tempered with juniper and cardamon amongst other things, all of which were on display. It’s just a shame that it was only 9.30am otherwise the flacon of gin sitting next to the juniper berries would have gone down a treat...
