I have just come back to the office from a lovely catch-up with Andrew and Mathew of Malin+Goetz at the Dean Street Townhouse. Their range, if you havent heard of it, is simple unisex skin, hair and body products that use natural ingredients for their properties. For example, the Grapefruit Face Cleanser contains the fruit because it is naturally cleansing and exfoliating, while the shower gels include ingredients which are anti-bacterial by nature. Its not all serious apothecary business though; I am a big fan of their rum and mojito candles.
The products are great quality and their clients trust them. How do they know? New Yorkers kept coming back to the store for skincare essentials throughout the recession, even though the products cost more than drugstore finds. People wanted to downsize, but still wanted quality last year was actually our best year, Im embarrassed to say said Andrew Goetz. Our skincare products dont have 60 steps, theyre much more accessible than that he added.
