After a month of gruelling weight-lifting, my last kettlebells session finally arrived. When I got to the gym I regrettably made the mistake of reminding my personal trainer that it was my last session and so he decided to push me harder than ever before.

I used heavier weights than usual and did all the lifts I had been dreading. Looking back at my first session, I had greatly improved but this didn’t make this week’s session seem any easier. Throwing the kettlebell between my legs, above my head then around my head is as difficult and strenuous as it sounds.

Feeling like my back, arms and legs were going to give way, I was given a welcome break thanks to a pregnant woman needing some advice from the trainer. As soon as he had finished it was a final five minute push with yet more lunges, swings and lifts – just in case I hadn’t done enough.

I finished off with a quick twenty minute sprint on the running machine and then it was finally home time. I left feeling relieved but tired and with a very sore hand, complete with blister. Although it’s been great to see my strength improve over the month, its also nice to know I don’t have to lift a kettlebell for a very long time!
