May 27 is officially Red Lipstick Day. Well, at Harrods anyway. The department store is hosting a whole day devoted to the iconic lip shade in aid of the cancer support charity Look Good…Feel Better. The charity helps women manage the visible side effects of cancer and is a great charity for Harrods to support.

Already kicked off in store, and running until May 27, is the Kiss & Make-Up Wall. For a £2 donation you will receive a mini lip-over plus the chance to imprint your kiss onto a card with a message of your choice to be pinned onto the wall located in the beauty hall. Each card enters you in to a prize draw to win a beauty hamper of spa treatments and products. So, get down there and pucker up.

From May 24 The Biscuiteers will be selling its yummy lipstick biscuits, £7.75 in the beauty hall with 50% of the retail proceeds going to Look Good…Feel Better.

Elizabeth Arden is celebrating its 100th Anniversary this year and created a Limited Edition lipstick in Red Door Red. Pick one of these up on the day and all proceeds will go to the charity.

Lastly, on May 27 Harrods is welcoming a host of international and catwalk make-up artists including Mary Greenwell for Chanel, our very own Daniel Sandler for All For Eve, Fred Letaillieur for Giorgio Armani, Will Malherbe for Bobbi Brown and Christian Ribart for Givenchy, among others. Each of these make-up artists will be available for personal make-overs priced at £25 for half an hour and £50 for an hour with all booking fees donated to the charity. Make sure you book in soon to secure your place and go along on the day armed with plenty of lipstick questions to test the beauty best.

In the meantime (or if you can’t get down to London for a lip-over), here are some top red lip tips…

“Don’t feel constrained to wear red found in a lipstick tube – create your own customised lipstick by combining a red you like with a favourite neutral or brown. A red stain is another easy way to wear red,” says Will Malherbe from Bobbi Brown. “Find a lipstick that looks good on your face when you are wearing absolutely no make-up. This is the magic colour that will make your skin, hair and eyes look their best” he adds.

“A rose blush will always help you get away with any striking shade of red” explains Fred Lataillieur from Giorgio Armani.

“To make the colour last use a waterproof lip liner to create a base of solid colour prior to applying lipstick,” advises Christian Ribart from Givenchy.
