Product: Clinique Even Better Clinical Dark Spot Corrector, £37.50

The claim: To virtually undo the visible evidence of sun damage, dark patches, skin stresses and age spots.

The pros: After one too many summer holidays wearing low SPF protection, a round the world trip and a sunbed session or two (yes, I am ashamed!), I've been left with uneven pigmentation and deep dark spots. So I was very happy to try-out Clinique’s Even Better Skin Tone Corrector. Upon application the serum was light and glided onto my skin with ease. My skin felt noticeably smoother (my boyfriend even commented on this and trust me, compliments are few and far between). After my first week of use, my skin tone appeared more even but unfortunately the dark spots remained. After two more weeks (the serum lasted me 3 weeks), nothing looked worse but nothing looked better! Maybe I need to continue to see further results.

The cons: You must remember to wear a high sunscreen with this product, I personally would recommend factor 50. And as sunscreen can be quite greasy, my skin appeared slightly clogged after the three weeks. Although, at least I was suitably protected from the beautiful but harmful spring sunrays!

The verdict: Continue use for the recommended 6 weeks for even skin tone but perhaps think long term for stubborn dark spots.
