Last weekend saw me venture out in sandals for the very first time this year. Nevermind the scrubbing, buffing and nourishing that went into my pre-sandal-wearing feet, what concerned me more was what colour to paint my nails.

You see, after months of rouge noire and navy, only something bright and girly would do. Something pink…or red….or coral….Something to set spring off with a bang.

YSL’s new Long Lasting Nail Lacquer in Ultra Violet, £16, is a great shade of purple – bright and flattering. Dolce & Gabbana The Nail Lacquer has a great SS10 colour called Shocking, £16, which is exactly that – a shocking fuschia pink that suits all skin tones. Or for something red, try Nail Lacquer in Siren, £8.75, by Orly which is a pretty scarlet. I have opted for NYC’s Quick Dry Nail Polish in Spring Street, £1.99. It’s a vibrant shade of orange that’s flattering and summery.

I won’t stash my boots away just yet, but at least my feet are ready for the sun!
