After a stressful weekend moving flats, I woke up yesterday to find some angry spots staring back at me from the bathroom mirror. These weren’t the small barely there pimples, but the kind that make you want to run to the nearest mirror for a good squeeze.

Drastic action was needed. Before doing anything I made sure my skin was completely clean - Cleanser, £48, by Eve Lom, is a winner. I then dug out my favourite face mask - Mega Mushroom Skin-Calming Face Mask, £31, by Dr. Andrew Weil for Origins – a creamy treatment mask which promises to relieve the signs of excess, including break-outs.

To let my skin breathe overnight, I skipped moisturiser but applied a small amount of Guinot’s AcniLogic Intelligent Sebum Control Serum, £37.45, (a moisturising serum aimed at tackling acne and general break-outs) over my entire face. Finally, I applied my miracle on-the-spot treatment - the

Alpha-H phase 3 Clearing Gel, £9.90, dabbing it over the offending culprits to help remove bacteria and reduce redness.

So did it work? I woke up this morning to discover that the ‘biggies’ looked smaller, calmer and much less angry, so yes, drama diverted. Phew!
