Whilst my colleagues popped out for a Pret sandwich, I spent my lunch hour in the company of Lady Gaga and Cyndi Lauper. They are the new spokepeople for the MAC Viva Glam Campaign, and I was one of just a handful of journalists invited to an audience with them.

The audience included Agyness Deyn, Henry Holland, Todd Lynn, Percy and Amy from PPQ, Jodie Harsh and her hair, which caused quite a scene as it was blocking the view from those sitting behind her (including some judge from Dancing on Ice). In true diva style we were left waiting for an hour and then finally Sharon Osbourne, who was hosting the event, announced their arrival.

In walked Cyndi, dressed in lace leggings, sky-high laced platforms, a ruffled coat dress and the most fabulous head of peroxide blonde curls I have ever seen. As for Lady Gaga, I will start from the bottom up – black patent boots that must have added a foot to her tiny frame, an all-in-one black lace body stocking, with added layers to maintain her modesty (yes really, she does do modest, sort of!), sharp, Spock like shoulder pads, black leather gloves, a black feathered mask covering her face and finally the crowning glory – a HUGE black patent rose perched on top of her head, contrasting against her flame yellow hair. In a word – WOW!

Both have designed a lipstick for the campaign. Cyndi’s is a deep but sheer red. “I wanted a deep red,” she said, “But MAC said it wouldn’t sell. So we compromised and came up with this versatile shade that can worn alone or layered with other colours.” As for Lady Gaga’s choice. “When I was working my way up the ladder, I would wear this MAC colour called Pink Nouveau. It was my favourite colour, my to-die-for shade. It made me feel fabulous, it made me feel famous. I asked MAC to make a colour just like that,” she revealed.

All proceeds from the sales of these lipsticks will go to the MAC Viva Glam HIV/Aids campaign. Launched on 15th March, priced £12.50.
