Watching trends emerge is one of the best bits about fashion week and seeing them gather memento from one city to the next is so exciting. Right now it seems dark lips are the hottest accessory you can wear. I first spied them in New York and now after just a morning of London shows they're cropping up everywhere here too.

At Charles Anastase make-up artist Sally Branka painted lips in deep matte crimson by a crisp, accentuated shape while at Kinder Aggugini make-up artist Pat McGrath pressed wine coloured stains on to models' mouths to add defiant strength to dramatic Napoleonic inspired faces.

Although it's a bold look, get ready to stock up on rich shades of purple, burgundy and cherry - dark lips look set to stay.
