The Brits is never a dull night, there is always an explosion of creativity in the beauty department (Lady Gaga and Lily Allen anyone?).

But, BND’s two favourite looks of the night were just a tad more wearable for us mere mortals. Natasha Khan of Bat for Lashes opted for a flash of aqua across one eye, while Pixie Lott abandoned her rock chick locks for a stunning 40s hairstyle. Here we show you how to get the looks yourself…

Natasha’s bold make-up

Jackie Tyson, make-up artist for X Factor created Natasha’s look last night. She received style notes (a creative guideline) from Natasha early this week. All it said was ‘Peacock Feathers’. So Jackie decided to make bespoke lashes for the star – which took a painstaking two hours.

‘You can make bespoke lashes to go with any outfit easily, just use a strip lash as your base and pick your individual lash colours then carefully glue individuals in the chosen colour into the lash line embedding them in by the root with some lash glue and fine tweezers. You need a steady hand and lots of patience but the result is worth it!’ says Jackie.

Jackie’s must have products to get Natasha’s look:

•           Avon Magix Face Perfector which helps makeup last longer, reduces shine and creates a flawless base to work with

•           I used a very light base, Givenchy Subli Mine Sculpt Light.

•           Benefit Posie Tint  for some pinky, cheek colour.

•           I used some blue grease paint by Makeup Forever to give a nice sticky base for lots of glorious glitter by Bella Pierre in blue, green and silver.

•           The lips are sheer and feminine with a slick of peach lip gloss from Cosmetics A La Carte.

Pixie’s glamorous waves

Akin Konizi, Creative Director at HOB Salons and the British Hairdresser of the Year created Pixie’s ultra glam hairstyle.

The professional look involved using a finger waving technique at the roots and then setting the ends. ‘However, to achieve this look yourself at home, divide hair into 2 inch long by 1 inch wide sections and vertically tong the hair, making sure that all sections are styled in the same direction.

Once all the hair has been worked through, don’t be afraid to brush through and let the waves settle in, applying a serum into your hands and gently run through the hair to eliminate any flyaway hairs and add a glass-like sheen.’ Says Akin.

Make sure to finish with hairspray to ensure your style holds.

Akin’s must-have products to get this look:

•           I used High Hair Designer Spray by Wella Professionals to towel dried hair.

•           High Hair Pure Glamour by Wella Professionals – the perfect serum.

•           Finish with Shaper Fierce by Sebastian Professional for hold.
