First post from NYFW – backstage at Preen

So day one of my New York adventure is nearly over and the big news today was Preen. I've always loved its effortlessly cool laid-back London aesthetic, but this season, if it's possible, I think I loved it even more. Master-of-cool hairstylist Luke Hersheson created a beautiful modern take on the ponytail, with twisted sides and a low knot, which if I didn't have short hair, I'd be sporting right now.

Paired with make-up artist James Kaliardos' irridescent lavender look it was a perfect exercise in modern minimal beauty. (Oh, and a quick tip from James: lavender is going to be huge next season so get experimenting now – eyes, lips and even cheeks.)

Also, not only did I fill my notepad with tips from Luke, I also got to hang out with ELLE favourite (and my hairdresser) George Northwood who was helping out backstage.
