Along with the snood and granny-coloured lipsticks, I have rejoined the fashion ranks. Ive spent the last year looking after my gorgeous baby girl, but now my baggy boyfriend jeans have been tossed to one side in favour of a slimmer cut (after a year off, skinny jeans feel really tight), the converse replaced with heels (ouch) and my hairspray and eyeliner have been dusted off and re-applied. Im back at ELLE HQ itching for some beauty gossip.
First things first, I am in desperate need of some pampering. For instant feel-good factor nothing beats a new nail colour. Being a mum has turned my nails brittle, due to the fact that hand hygiene gel now runs through my veins. After one application of Crème de la Mer hand cream and already they feel soft and the corn beef appearance is fading to reveal a healthier skin shade. But what nail colour to choose? According to ELLEs resident nail guru Georgia, forest green will resurrect my style status. Mmmm, Im not so sure. Instead, I am drawn to the selection of purples in the beauty cupboard rich, jewel-like shades, reminding me of winter pansies or crushed velvet (Im flitting between Givenchy Purple Impression, £12, and Nars Purple Rain £12.50). Ah, but Diors gunmetal silver shade Silver Pearl (£16.50) is the perfect balance of steely cool and luxurious sophistication. Decisions, decisions. Oh, its good to be back!
