Winter warmers

By Georgia Collins

What with all this freezing weather lately I can’t remember a time when I have leaned quite so heavily on my favourite beauty essentials. My skin feels papery and rough, my hands are dry as a bone and my lips are so sore and chapped it looks like I’m permanently wearing a slick of angry red lipstick.

Right now I’m taking my Korres Lip Butter in Quince, £6, with me everywhere I go and layering on System Professional’s Colour Save Mask, £19.50, – since I went blonde my hair’s drier anyway and with all this hat wearing it’s almost haystack-like. I left this on for an hour last night to restore some moisture.

Sisley’s Nutritive hand care, £55, has seen me through this winter. I don’t normally use hand cream as I find it too greasy but this icy weather means my skin is drier than ever. This makes my hands feel like velvet and sinks in straight away. Thanks to the wind whipping my face I’m also surgically attached to my Carmex lip balm, £2.49, and have even found myself waking up in the night to slather a thick layer on.

Susannah Edwards, Beauty Intern

This weather is causing my skin to feel itchy and irritated so I’ve been applying Dove’s new Visible Effects Body Lotion, £4.99, religiously day and night to help put back some moisture. Because my face is also feeling super sensitive Eve Lom’s Rescue Mask, £28, has now become a regular entry into my pre-bed regime.
