That rather put things in perspective. This approach is serious (what else would you expect from a programme that originated in Germany?). So, what did I have to eat yesterday? 1 herbal tea, 2 small bottles of water, 1 vegetable soup and for dinner – plum soup. Dinner was the low point. Dinner was when I wanted to give up and order a Dominos. My first detox headache had kicked in and plum soup wasn't doing anything to comfort me. Today, though, I'm feeling brighter. Rusk bread for breakfast (so boring it took me an hour to eat) actually left me full until my lunch of courgette and brown rice. Next stop, my first detoxing wrap, where I'll 'sweat out' my toxins. Not so  much glamour involved in this detox lark.www.beautifulbreak.com Avril Mair, Beauty Extremist – The Master CleanseI have a confession to make. Yesterday I left my maple syrup (pure Canadian) and lemons (unwaxed organic) at home. I was too busy to dash to Whole Foods for more. So instead I drank water and black coffee all day in the office, then ate a green salad with asparagus once I got home. Not very healthy, you might think, but the Master Cleanse does advise beginning with an ‘Ease In’ phase that removes processed food and meat from your diet. So I guess I managed that by default. I’d kill for a Starbucks latte and muffin now, but I remembered everything I need to detox this morning. So off I go...www.themastercleanse.orgGeorgia Collins, Beauty Writer – The Pure Package DetoxOne day down and so far... a little peckish. Don’t get me wrong, the quantity of food is actually pretty surprising – all three meals are decent portions and there are two snacks to keep me going, it’s just after such a period of gluttony over Christmas my stomach has been rather spoilt. Once the bircher museli with goat’s milk had been eaten for breakfast yesterday it was hard to stop myself devouring my snack (carrots and hummous) and my lunch (butternut squash salad) straight away. On the plus side, feeling hungry means I am drinking more water and green tea than usual to try and fill me up, which can only be a good thing. Once I get used to not being able to idly pick my way through a ton of Quality Street everyday, I think I’ll be OK.www.purepackage.comClaire Sacre, Commissioning Editor – The exercise-based detoxI’ve just got off the phone to Sonja my Nike master trainer. I told her I wanted to use exercise to complement my post-Christmas detox of no alcohol, sugar or carbs (a personal first). She immediately suggested I work Bikram Yoga into my daily exercise plan so I’ll be braving 105°F/41°C heat with her tomorrow at 12.30pm at The Bikram Yoga Studio in Soho. All that sweating (some people do it in their bikinis) is amazing detoxification, and at the same time I’ll be working every muscle in my body during a 90-minute sequence of 26 different yoga postures. Surely the sauna conditions of Bikram will be a great antidote to the snow? It’s the food abstinence that’s leaving sweat on my brow right now. I’ve already broken my detox with muesli for breakfast. There was nothing else in the cupboard. Honest. Sainsbury’s here I come.http://www.nike.com/nikeos/p/nikewomen/en_GB/Amy Lawrenson, Web Assistant – The Nosh juice detox Last night at around 9.30pm, a courier came to my door loaded with two bags. One filled with four bottles of numbered juices (today’s supply), the other containing my Nosh Detox Box. The Box is sold separately, but I figure if you are on a strict detox you deserve a treat. The box holds: five jars of scented bath salts (a third of each is used to exfoliate the skin, the rest goes into your nightly bath to cleanse out your system); Nux Vom, homeopathic pills, which aide the detox process; a natural bristle brush to help detox the skin; castor oil (you have to take a full teaspoon followed by coffee) and five sachets of different herbal teas, one for each day. Today’s is Cascara Bark Tea, the packet says it ‘has a cleansing effect and supports normal bowel function’, nice.I also have a ‘Juice Fast Daily Schedule’ which has my day mapped out from 7.30am to bedtime. Luckily, the schedule is so jam packed I don’t know if I’ll even have time to think of food – I’ll keep you posted.www.noshdetoxdelivery.comSusannah Edwards, Beauty Intern – Soulmate Foods DetoxToday is day one of my Soulmate Food detox, and I arrive at work to find a box full of food, snacks, and smoothies awaiting me. Lunch is Yakitori sticks with Chinese pickled salad (hmmmm…) and I'm also allowed a snack of rice cakes with spicy chickpeas. It's not a Twix, but it'll do. The box contains everything I’ll consume over the next three days – not even a crumb of additional food must pass my lips. Trouble is, that tonight I'm going out for dinner. I call the 24-hour crisis number. An expert on the other end of the line advises me what to choose off the menu. Phew, crisis averted.www.soulmatelifestyle.com/foodClick here to read day two's entry...
