OK, so the day has come. We're already mainlining peppermint tea and nibbling on our fingernails the detox has begun! Each member of the team is trying out a different form of deprivation. We'll admit some of them are extreme, in Avril's case even a little insane, but we think they represent a cross-section of the options out there. Here's a lowdown so that you can join in.

Jenny Dickinson, Beauty Director The Beautiful Break detox at Beauty Works West in Notting Hill
'My detox involves a low protein, high carb diet (bear with me here), daily body thermal wraps, plus alternating dry and fluid days and exercise and rest days. The plan is to flush all those holiday-season toxins from my body somehow, I don't think it's going to be that easy
Georgia Collins, Beauty Writer The Pure Package Detox
'The Pure Package is a food delivery detox programme aimed at cleansing the body rather than losing weight. With a new bag of food delivered every morning containing portion-controlled breakfast, lunch, dinner and two snacks (wheat-free, dairy-free, meat-free, gluten-free), its a lazy detoxers dream.'
Avril Mair, Beauty Extremist The Master Cleanse
'My detox diet is the Master Cleanse: a hardcore 60-calories-a-day regime popularised by Beyoncé, who lost 20lbs on it before filming Dreamgirls. No food is allowed. Instead, you mix up a concoction of maple syrup, cayenne pepper, lemon juice and water, which supposedly contains enough nutrients to see you through. Im going to try and last a fortnight. Wish me luck. I think Ill need it.'
Susannah Edwards, Beauty Intern Soulmate Foods Detox
'Ill be trying out a four-week bespoke food package detox that will see me alcohol free and with every meal and snack and drink delivered to me on my doorstep daily. On this detox you do get to eat some of the foods you enjoy, but it's a carefully controlled mix of carbs, protein, dairy, fruit and vegetables.'
Amy Lawrenson, Web Beauty Assistant The Nosh Juice Fast
'Rehydrate, eliminate, heal and rejuvenate is the ethos of this juicing diet, which involves consuming two litres of freshly prepared fruit smoothies everyday (along with water and herbel tea) and nothing else
for five whole days. The fresh juices are only delivered in London, but their website sells a Detox Home Kit, £67.50. The kit has everything you need including recipes, bottles, nutrients, teas and even a body brush!'
Claire Sacre, Junior Commissioning Editor The exercise-based detox
'I will be doing the standard no alcohol, no sugar, no carbs, but I plan to try and improve my results by complementing it with a different form of exercise every day. I've got a consultation with a Nike master trainer today, who's going to design me the perfect detox training plan. Bring on the gym!'
