As usual there was the uniform of nude lips and softly smoked eyes; Chloe Sevigney, Jessica Biel and Gwyneth Paltrow, along with a host of other A-listers, rocked this red carpet fail-safe look.
But who took a beauty gamble?
Emma Stone chose a bright fuchsia lip, while Taylor Swift opted for a bold red with super smoky, smouldering bronze eyes. Rihanna worked a soft, smoky eye but not one to follow the crowd by pairing it with a nude lip she went for a shock of deep wine-red which ensured she stood out from the crowd.
Nicole Richie worked a red lip and navy smoky eye that reminded us of the look at Temperley Londons autumn/winter 2011 show. Nicoles fashion line is called Winter Kate and her make-up is better suited to that season. It's best perfected now and worn come Christmas, off the red carpet it could be a tad too heavy for this time of year.
Ginnifer Goodwin paired the favoured nude lip with a flash of bold aqua on the eyes; definition came from spiky, jet-black false lashes that gave her look a fierce vibe.
But our favourite look of the night was Mary-Kate Olsen, who also worked colourful eyes. The young designer wore a peach, super-matte lip and took a gamble with red, smoky eyes. Red can be a tricky shade to pull off around the eye as it can make your eyes look tired and smaller than they really are, MK counterbalanced this by loading up her lashes with jet black mascara and slicked on tons of liner; we love.More
