The app, called Ascent, offers a series of questions for the customer to answer, each question is accompanied with a thought-provoking image. Questions cover topics such your favourite holiday destination or food. Based on the practices of aroma-chology, physcho-graphics and kinesthetics, your answers enable the app to reveal your personality as either sophisticated, casual or seductive. A scent is then accurately recommended to the shopper from the Aramis collection. Its also a good idea for men who havent a clue when it comes to buying scent.
Fragrance profiling has been available in exclusive fragrance boutiques like Penhaligon's and Jo Malone for a while now, but Aramis is the first brand to bring this technique - not only to the mass market - but to the world of mobile phone apps too. Aramis fragrances include DKNY, Michael Kors, Donna Karan and Tommy Hilfiger.
I gave it a go and was paired with Michael Kors, my current favourite scent from the Aramis portfolio. Staff at the Amaris counter in Londons Selfridges are armed with the Ascent app and waiting to prescribe you. Lets hope it makes its way to other counters too.
