Finding the right eyebrows for your face shape doesn't have to be trickier than working out exactly what Michelle from Destiny's Child has been doing since 2005...

In fact, it might just be the swiftest way to transform your brow game with almost no effort. Need convincing? Take a second to Google image search 'Christina Aguilera eyebrows' and tell us the power of the brow isn't real.

'Brows have the capacity to make or break a face,' says 'Arch Angel' and A-list brow expert, Amy Jean. 'The shape should complement your features, length or width of the face and skin tone.'

We called upon Amy Jean to tell us exactly how to find the right eyebrow shape for your face (and specifically what not to do as well).

How To Find The Right Eyebrows For Your Face Shape

If you have a round face…

Best eyebrow shape: A high arch is recommended to make the face appear less broad. More height in the arch will give more length to the face and open the eyes.

What to avoid: Stay away from a rounded brow shape.

How to nail it: Equip yourself with a pencil that is a good colour match as you will be extending the lines slightly beyond your natural shape. Feather lines from the start of the brow at a strong angle up and then a sharp change in direction from the arch to the tail. Blend with a spooly.

If you have a heart-shaped face…

Best eyebrow shape: A low arch rounded brow. Softer curvier, lines will complement the roundness of the top of the face.

What to avoid: A high arch, as it is too dramatic for the chin.

How to nail it: A soft and natural powdered brow will work well here. Be sure to apply your powder in curved strokes not straight lines.

If you have a square face…

Best eyebrow shape: A square jaw is a strong feature, balance it with a well defined strong brow but soften the lines by blending.

What to avoid: A barely there brow line. You will need to create some attention in the top half of the face to avoid the strength in the jaw line.

How to nail it: I would recommend a brow tint to make the brows a shade or two darker. Alternatively use a coloured brow mascara to buff over the hairs in a richer tint/colour.

If you have an oval face…

Best eyebrow shape: A soft angled eyebrow shape as it will not deter from the harmony that is already at play here.

What to avoid: Any dramatic changes. No high arches or flattened out elongated brows. Accept that this face shape is a blessing and you don’t need to mess with it.

How to nail it: Tweeze only a small amount of hairs from under the arch to give a subtle lift, then dust a light amount of powder throughout the brow line.

If you have a long face…

Best eyebrow shape: A flatter elongated shape or 'straight brow'. This will widen the face and make the face appear less long.

What to avoid: A high arch, as it will create even more length in the face.

How to nail it: Be sure to fill in a straighter line underneath the brow so there is less arch. Use a pencil in a feathery motion out towards the temples. Be sure not to draw an intentional arch. Blend out any harsh lines with a spooly.
