It's surprising that such a megastar singer doesn't have her own signature scent. Jennifer Lopez launched her debut scent Glow by J.Lo with Coty back in 2001; Beyonce has launched two fragrances with the beauty powerhouse, Heat and Pulse; while Lady Gaga's Coty scent is being created as you read this and is slated for launch next year (and is likely - we hope - to have some surprising notes in it to mirror the stars own risqué fashion sense; a typical floral would just be dull, no?)
It's a natural progression for Madonna to move into scent, especially since her Material girl line launched beauty products, including nail polish, lip gloss, body sprays and lotions, in Macys just last month. But we're not holding out too much hope right now.
The Madonna-fragrance rumours have been around for nearly fifteen years and apparently the singer has had difficulty securing scent deals in the past due to her large demands. She came close in 2007 when a $200 million deal with Live Nation was mooted. At the time Art Spiro, then running Liz Claiborne Cosmetics, said, 'We have never been in dialogue with Madonna, but a Madonna scent would make sense. She is an internationally known celebrity who has appeal to a wide cross-section of demographic and cultural markets. It could be an interesting opportunity for someone.'
And right now Coty could be that someone.More
