And Toni should know, having amassed a family hairdressing business worth over £220 million. His father was a hairdresser and his grandfather was a barber, and Toni launched Toni & Guy with his brother Gaetano in Clapham in 1963. He has three children; Sasha is Global Creative Director of the company and Christian works at sister company Escentuals. Only Pierre, his youngest decided not to go into the family business. Hes an actor and producer; hes been in films -Adulthood and Kidulthood. Does he mind him not honing the craft his other family members have? Its always been that way; I wanted to pay my staff as much as possible so we have always taken spaces slightly outside of town centres, a little off the beaten track. It hasnt done the brand any harm however; Toni & Guy is opening London Fashion Week tonight when it will become the first brand to host a beauty-focused show. 60 models will show innovative hairstyles using four new fashion-inspired styling ranges from the brand. Oh, and its being opened by Naomi Campbell, with Olivia Palermo watching from the front row.
This isnt the only first for the brand. Toni & Guy was the first salon chain on the high street, the first to do hair books and videos. And it seems the brand is still pushing the boundaries.
