Did you ever go through a phase of listening to TLC's 'Don't go chasing waterfalls', while smoothing down your baby hairs in the effort to look like Chilli? I did. To put it mildly, I was in love with her and the whole look she had going on. Fast forward a few decades to the Givenchy A/W 2015 show, where models sported intricate curls along their hairline (and Katy Perry rocked the look front row) and I'm reaching for my tub of gel again.

The trend is by no means new. In fact, the origins of slicking down one's baby hairs is said to have started in the 70s (namely with Latoya Jackson). I had, however, forgotten about it until I came across FKA Twigs.

Shame on me, after all, most of my teenage life was spent trying to emulate Jennifer Lopez; gold bling included. But of course, it would take someone like FKA Twigs to bring this style back and inspire a slew of celebrities and catwalk models to embrace it. She's outrageously cool. She's an amazing artist and my inner thirteen year old begs to look like her. All. The. Time.

Looks like I'll be growing out my bangs...
