When the temperature drops, the last thing any of us want to do post-shower is stand around massaging in body lotion - brrr.
That's where body oils come in. Twice as good at preventing moisture from evaporating from the skin (take that, central heating), they've come a long way since the greasy, sticky formulas we once knew.
With nourishing but fast-absorbing ingredients like rose otto, grapeseed and coconut, not to mention stunning fragrances to rival your designer perfume collection (move over, Chanel Gabrielle), the beauty sphere's new breed of luxury oils pretty much blows any other all-over body moisturiser out of the water.
So, say 'see ya' to scaly limbs and check out our pick of the best body oils out there right now.More
Selfridges - £26
We're forever indebted to Jen Atkin for this head-to-toe multi-tasker. It envelops parched skin in a blanket of moisture (even making knees and elbows seriously smooth), makes fluffy split ends much less obvious, banishes frizzy bits and leaves a beautiful, sophisticated (note: not grandma-esque) rose scent on the skin all day.
Space NK - £85
Body oils don't get any more divine than this 100% natural Tata Harper offering - fact. It wraps skin in an ultra-softening blend of calendula, grapeseed, neroli and arnica without any stickiness at all, and has the knack of making the entire shower/room/house smell like a sun-soaked holiday on the Amalfi Coast.
LIHA Beauty - £39
With a tuberose flower on display through the glass bottle, LIHA's body oil will sit prettily atop your dressing table. Made with a natural, cold pressed coconut oil, it solidifies in cooler temperatures, so you'll need to run the bottle under a warm tap to transform it back into a liquid, but it's so worth it for the way it makes scaly limbs feel like silk. Plus, the warm, floral fragrance lingers for hours on end and you can decant it and use as a solid perfume. Win-win.
